Couples To Celebrate 50th Anniversaries, Renew Vows At Holy Name Cathedral
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Hundreds of couples will be celebrating a wonderful life-moment on Sunday at Holy Name Cathedral.
They were all married in 1962 and are celebrating their 50th anniversaries this year.
As WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports, Beverly and Bill Todhunter will be among the 426 couples at Holy Name Cathedral.
The Todhunters' anniversary was Sept. 8. They met while working at Marshall Field's.
"I was in cameras and she was in stainless steel," Bill Todhunter said.
So what is the secret to a happy 50-year marriage? Bill explains that by trying to tell a story about a dance they went to.
"I sprained my ankle, and I was going to stop dancing, and Beverly said, 'Keep dancing! Keep dancing!'" he said, "and we've adopted that saying, and actually, anything that ever happens, times of stress or trouble, or whatever, we always say to each other, 'Keep dancing!'"
The special couples will also renew their vows Sunday.
