County Treasurer: Reveal Pension Fund Shortfalls
CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas is pushing the County Board to pass an ordinance requiring all local taxing districts to reveal their pension fund shortfalls.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's David Roe reports, billions of dollars' worth of pension debts are spread across hundreds of taxing districts, from suburban library boards, to Chicago's massive city government. Thus, the tab for police officers and firefighters and other government workers is difficult to quantify.
