Cosell: Cutler's Public Perception Isn't Always Reality
(WSCR) Since Jay Cutler joined the Bears in 2009, the quarterback has been under constant fire from media and fans alike.
Media members question Cutler's leadership, fans questioned his toughness. One NFL expert told The Mully and Hanley Show that the public's perception of Cutler is often vastly different from reality.
"People make decisions based on things that are not football related," NFL Films senior producer Greg Cosell said. "I think there's a sense because of body language, press conferences, things like that, that somehow he's lacking in certain areas. All I do is watch tape. I would never say that leadership, things like that, are not important, I just don't know how to gauge that. Quite frankly, I'm not sure anybody does unless they're with that person every single day.

Cosell said Cutler possesses all the tools he needs to take his place as an elite quarterback in the NFL.
"For people on the outside to talk about what kind of leader he is, what kind of person he is, that's a waste of time," Cosell said. "When you watch Jay Cutler play and you look at the attributes that make for high-level quarterback play in this league, Jay Cutler has those attributes."
