Cops: Suburban Man Had Machine Guns, Bomb-Making Materials
WHEATON, Ill. (STMW) - A Bartlett man has been charged with possessing four machine guns after police found the weapons and bomb-making materials in west suburban Roselle Wednesday.
Tony E. Johnson, 41, of the 300 block of Wilmington Drive in Bartlett, was charged with four counts of unlawful use of weapons and is being held in the DuPage County Jail on $750,000 bond, according to a press release from the Roselle Police Department.
Police searched a property in the 800 block of West Lake Street in west suburban Roselle after learning that explosives and automatic weapons may be stored there, the release said.
They found four machine guns along with large containers of chemicals used to make explosives, according to the release.
Bartlett police, Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents, the Department of Homeland Security and the DuPage County Bomb Squad assisted with the investigation and search.
