Cops Seek Suspected Serial Rapist On Northwest Side
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police were warning Northwest Side residents about a man suspected of raping several women at knifepoint.
According to an alert from Grand-Central Area Detectives, the man attacked a 31-year-old woman at about 1 a.m. Sunday as she was walking on North Avenue between Pulaski Road and Homan Avenue. Police said the man was driving a small, blue, four-door vehicle when he approached the woman and took her into an alley on the 1400 block of North Monticello Avenue and raped her at knifepoint.
Police said the man is suspected of raping other women who have "high-risk lifestlyes," but did not release any details from the other attacks.
The attacks have occurred in the Grand-Central and Shakespeare police districts, which include the Humboldt Park and Logan Square neighborhoods.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, approximately 35 years old, who is between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-8, with a stocky build and a medium complexion. The man wears his hair in a long mohawk with a ponytail in the back and the sides of his hairline are shaved, police said. He also has a tattoo of a cross on his right shoulder.
