Cops: Correctional Officer Pulls Gun In Fight Over Washer
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A Cook County correctional officer faces weapons charges after she allegedly pulled a gun while arguing with a woman over a washing machine and said, "This is all the protection I need."
Judge Israel Desierto set bail Sunday at $25,000 for 36-year-old Sonjia L. Dennis-Brown of the 14400 block of S. Lincoln in Dolton. A woman told police she was doing her laundry in the 1100 block of E. Sibley in the south suburb when she began to quarrel with Dennis-Brown over a washing machine.
Dennis-Brown told the woman she was a "law enforcement officer," according to police reports. The woman told police Dennis-Brown kept arguing with her and allegedly reached into her purse and pulled out a black pistol.
Police said Dennis-Brown told the woman, "this is all the protection I need." Court records show Dennis-Brown is a Cook County correctional officer.
