Cop Injured Along With 5 Others In Crash
WOODSTOCK, Ill. (STMW) - Five people were hospitalized, including a Woodstock police officer, after his squad was hit at a northwest suburban intersection Wednesday afternoon.
The crash happened at 3:09 p.m. at the intersection of Illinois Route 47 and Lake Street, a McHenry County Sheriff's office said. The crash involved three cars and involved a Woodstock Poilce Dept. squad.
Evidence at the scene indicated the Woodstock police officer was traveling west on Lake Street responding to an "in progress call for service" when his squad was struck by a 2003 Ford Winstar traveing south on Route 47, the release said.
The squad was then pushed into a 2000 Chevrolet Trailblazer that was stopped facing east on Lake Street, causing minor damage.
Witnessed confirmed the police officer was using emergency lights and sirens at the time of the accident, the release said.
The driver of the Windstar, her four juvenile passengers and the Woodstock officer were taken to Woodstock Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. All parties were treated and released.
The driver of the Windstar, Tara L. Madigan, was cited for failure to yield to an authorized emergency vehicle, the release said.
