Cooper: 'The Bottom Line Is We're Not Winning'

CHICAGO (WSCR) After being swept by their division rival, the Chicago White Sox fell into last place in the American League Central division and have an abysmal 11-21 record. But the team isn't making any excuses for their disappointing season.

"The bottom line is we're not winning," pitching coach Don Cooper said on the Mully and Hanley Show. "And that's kind of what we're in it for. We're in for winning ball games, and that's what's not happening, and we continue to find some different and real ways to lose games."

On Tuesday night, Chicago's pitching staff only gave up one run to the Minnesota Twins. But opposing starter Fransisco Liriano tossed a no hitter. The team has also given up late game leads and squandered quality starts when they've got them from their pitchers.

"Now we have to find ways to win games, and that's going to be our objective and that's going to be our focus," Cooper said. "It's not fun right now."

The White Sox have an off-day on Thursday before starting a west coast road trip that includes nine games in 10 days.
