Cooper: Six-Man Rotation Will Be Key For White Sox
CHICAGO (WSCR) The return of Jake Peavy to the Chicago White Sox rotation was a welcome sight for the team's coaches, players and fans. But his return also makes for an expanded starting rotation as the team tries to get back into division race.
"It's not going to be a seasonal thing," pitching coach Don Cooper said on the Mully and Hanley Show. "You know, we have 20 games in a row. Part of my thinking, and everyone's thinking, is for us to get back into this thing, it's going to be important for our pitchers to get their rest, and make sure they're strong and healthy throughout, from now until the end."

Like many, Cooper doesn't think that the AL Central race is over. He said it's unlikely that the Cleveland Indians will keep up their current pace for the whole season, and that the White Sox can still get back in the hunt.
"Right now we're going to go with [the six-man rotation]," Copper said. "God forbid somebody goes down, when the six-man rotation is finished we'll go to five. And if somebody isn't throwing the ball as well as we feel he needs to throw the ball then we'll go to [five]."
