Cooper: Peavy Pitching Like A No. 1
(WSCR) The first two and half years of the Jake Peavy experiment have been forgettable, to say the least.
Constantly injured and inconsistent, Peavy has been a shell of the pitcher who won the National League Cy Young Award in 2007.
This year, however, Peavy is seemingly healthy for the first time. He earned the American League pitcher of the month honors after going 3-1 with a 1.67 ERA in April.
"He's pitching like a No. 1, that's for sure," Cooper said. "He's been very efficient also. He's pitched against very good clubs. He had Boston, Detroit, Texas and Baltimore - all those clubs are good-hitting clubs and they're playing well. He's been good."

Cooper also discussed the work that not only Peavy, but every White Sox pitcher puts in behind the scenes.
"Everybody has their program," Cooper said. "They bust their tails, every single one of those guys. Not only starters, but relievers. What's funny is that everyone see the game that starts at 7:10, but nobody sees what goes on at 2:30. There's stuff going on from 2:30 until the game starts. ... There's a lot of hard work being put in. That's for sure."
