Cooper: Haven't Seen What Peavy Can Do Yet
(WSCR) So far, the Jake Peavy-White Sox experiment has been a colossal failure.
In his three seasons on the South Side, the former Cy Young Award winner has started just 38 games, compiling a record of 17-13.
This season, however, Peavy is healthy for the first time since being trade to the White Sox in 2008.
"He's healthy, he's feeling good, he's talking good - that makes the pitching coach feel good," White Sox pitching coach Don Cooper told The Mully and Hanley Show. "We need Jake. We need him to run out there for all of his starts. That would be a goal. We haven't had Jake at full capacity since we got him. We've been dealing with an ankle, dealing with a major lat tear muscle off the bone, we've been dealing with some groin. What we're hoping for as a team, as an organization, is that he's past the physical problems."

"We've seen glimpses of a guy that can go out there and get the job done for us, but we haven't seen it sustained. That's what we're hoping for."
Closer Decision
With opening day about a week away, the White Sox have yet to name a closer.
Cooper, as always, was mum on when the decision would be made.
"We do have a timeline," Cooper said. "It'll be before opening day.
"We have a couple extra spots in the bullpen, let's say the 11th and 12th guy. Everybody is jumping up, rather than spitting the bit, as far as the competition. ... They're all jumping up for it. A lot of times, you see guys getting a little skittish at times, 'Hey, I'm getting close. I need to have a good outing here.' Everybody has kind of responded well."
