Cook County Clerk David Orr Endorses Jesus "Chuy" Garcia For Mayor
(CBS) -- Saying he'll get the job done, Cook County Clerk David Orr has endorsed Cook County Commissioner Jesus "Chuy" Garcia for mayor, reports WBBM's Veronica Carter.
Orr says he's worked with him for 30 years and Garcia has earned his respect. Orr says Garcia and President of the Cook County Board Toni Preckwinkle promised change

"Toni Preckwinkle and Chuy Garcia know that we have to do things to make our criminal justice system work better, they have been working on, they've put the money there, and also it's critical not just for the way people are treated, it's critical for our budgets in the future," Orr said.
Garcia says Chicago's neighborhoods and schools need more attention.
"We have a serious public safety concern that affects people in every neighborhood in the city of Chicago," Garcia said. "We need more effective public safety strategies."
Garcia says community policing key and that Ferguson, Missouri is an example of what happens without it. He says the Emanuel administration has only given lip serve to community policing.
