Convicted Sex Offender Charged With Sexual Assault Of 6-Year-Old In Stickney
(STMW) -- A 60-year-old man who's already spent time in prison for sexual abuse is back behind bars Tuesday after being charged with repeatedly sexually assaulting a 6-year-old outside his west suburban home.
Judge Peter Felice on Tuesday ordered David Zientek, of Stickney, held on a $1.5 million bond on a Class X felony charge of predatory criminal sexual assault, according to the Cook County state's attorney's office.
Between February and July of this year, Zientek was "engaging in sex acts with the six-year-old child on separate but similar occasions," a statement from prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said the child lived near Zientek, who would start talking to the child outside his apartment building.
"During these conversations, Zientek would often reach inside the victim's clothes and sexually assault the child," prosecutors said.
On the afternoon of July 19, he repeatedly assaulted the child, "placing his hands inside of the child's clothing at least six times during a one-hour period. During this incident, a neighbor witnessed Zientek's actions," prosecutors said.
The neighbor called Stickney police and Zientek was arrested without incident.
Zientek has twice been convicted of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, the first time in 1987, and was sentenced to a total of 19 years in prison.
His next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 20 in Bridgeview.
