Contract Awarded For Electric Vehicle-Charging Stations
CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Chicago has awarded a California company a contract to install 280 electric vehicle-charging stations in the city and some surrounding suburbs by the end of the year.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Bob Conway reports, the Chicago Tribune says under the contract, San Diego-based 350 Green LLC will set up 73 plazas where motorists driving electric cars will be able to plug in to either of two different types of charging stations.

One type is expected to be able to fully charge electric vehicles in less than half an hour.
Manufacturers have said they will roll out their electric vehicles first in cities which have extensive charging infrastructure.
So far, the Ford Motor Company is the only auto manufacturer to announce that Chicago will be among its initial rollout cities for electric vehicles.
