Construction Worker Killed On I-294
A construction worker was killed after being struck by a vehicle on I-294.
Illinois State Police responded shortly after 10pm on Friday evening to milepost 41 just South of Touhy Avenue on the expressway.
According to State Police, a driver in a black 2013 Infiniti crossed into the construction zone and hit the worker before also hitting an unoccupied van in the zone. The driver remained on scene and is being questioned by State Police. That driver suffered minor injuries.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as 61-year-old Frank Caputo of Bartlett, Illinois. He was pronounced dead at Lutheran General Hospital.
