Construction To Cause Blue, Red Line Delays This Week
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Late night CTA riders should allow extra travel time this week as construction on the Blue and Red lines will cause minor delays.
Blue Line trains in both directions will operate on the same track between the Montrose and Addison stations from 11 p.m. Sunday until 4 a.m. Monday while crews perform track maintenance, according to the CTA's website. The work will continue at the same times the following day, ending early Tuesday.
Passengers must board and exit all trains on the O'Hare-bound side of the platform at the Irving Park station during that time, the CTA said.
Additionally, Blue Line trains will run on the same track between the Irving Park and Logan Square stations from 11 p.m. Wednesday until 4 a.m. Thursday for track work, the CTA said. The work will also continue at the same times the following night, ending early Friday.
During the work, passengers must board and exit all trains on the O'Hare-bound side of the platform at the Addison and Belmont stations, according to the CTA.
On the Red Line, trains in both directions will run on the same track between the 63rd and 47th Street stations from 10:30 p.m. Tuesday until 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, the CTA said. The work will continue at the same times the following two nights, ending early Friday.
Passengers must board and exit all trains on the 95th Street bound side of the platform at the Garfield station, the CTA said.
Minor delays are expected, and the CTA advises passengers to allow extra travel time. The work will also affect Train Tracker prediction availability.
