Conditions Starting To Improve At Chicago Airports
CHICAGO (STMW) - Conditions at both Chicago airports are improving Wednesday night after a blizzard forced airlines to cancel thousands of flights in and out of the city.
Airlines canceled more than 2,200 flights Wednesday at O'Hare Airport and more than 400 flights at Midway Airport, according to a statement from city Department of Aviation spokesman Karen Pride.
On Tuesday, airlines canceled more than 1,300 flights at O'Hare and Midway canceled operations, the Department of Aviation said.
Despite the bad weather, some flights arrived at O'Hare Wednesday, and Midway saw both arrivals and departures, Pride said.
Snow removal crews continue to work on clearing the runways, taxiways and terminals at both airports, but travelers are strongly encouraged to check the status of their flights on their airlines website before going to the airport.
