Communities Ramp Up Fight Against Mosquitoes
WHEATON, Ill. (CBS) -- 'Tis the season to find a can of Off! and burn those citronella candles at your cookout.
As CBS 2's David Morrison reports, everybody hates mosquitoes, and communities are preparing to fight them this summer.
How annoying is it to go outside and enjoy the gorgeous weather Chicago has been seeing lately, only to end up doing what Morrison calls the mosquito-slap dance.
With all the rain that has fallen on the area in recent months, pools of standing water and puddles have increased the number of mosquitoes around.
Starting at dusk Thursday night and continuing until 2 a.m. Friday, crews in west suburban Wheaton will spray for mosquitoes to take the sting out of your outdoor activities.
Most mosquitoes are merely a nuisance. But the end of June is also the time when mosquitoes carrying the West Nile virus begin to appear.
