College Reduces Costs, Cuts Long-Standing Football Program
CHICAGO (WBBM) - Joliet Junior College is reducing costs by cutting its long-standing football program.
The Joliet Junior College board voted this week to end its football program after 61 years, primarily to save about half a million dollars a year. Athletic Director Wayne King tells the Southtown Star it also better balances the number of men's and women's sport teams in keeping with federal guidelines.

It's 2011 schedule ended with a forfeit to Harper College because of an on field altercation. It's best team ever was in 2002, when JJC went 11 and 0 and was rated first in the nation. It leaves Harper and the College of DuPage as the only two remaining junior college football programs in the Chicago area.
