Cold Impedes Fueling For Some Jets At O'Hare
(CBS) – Brutally cold weather continued to take a toll on Chicago's airports Friday evening.
American Airlines said more than a dozen of its American Eagle regional flights were canceled and others were delayed because of a glitch in fueling at O'Hare International Airport. Underground fuel lines were having issues because of the icy weather, so the airline was using tanker trucks to service some of its planes, an American representative told CBS 2.
The fueling problem also affected American competitor United Airlines. A "handful" of flights were delayed because of frozen fuel lines, a United representative said. No flights were canceled.
The city's Aviation Department reported more than 250 flights had been canceled at O'Hare International Airport. There were "minor" delays and cancelations at Midway Airport.
