Coach Q Will Miss Second Straight Game
When the Chicago Blackhawks take the United Center ice on Friday they'll be going for their second consecutive victory. But they'll also be taking the ice for the second consecutive game without their head coach.
Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville will miss Friday's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, his second straight, as he recovers from gastrointestinal bleeding caused by a small ulcer.
The 52-year-old Quenneville was hospitalized Wednesday morning, and team officials would not confirm Friday whether he remains hospitalized.
Assistant Mike Haviland says he spoke to Quenneville on Friday morning and that "he's actually going a little stir-crazy there." He says they talked about the Blue Jackets and expects to chat with Quenneville again after the game.
Haviland says he does not know when Quenneville might return.
The defending Stanley Cup champions, who have been plagued by inconsistency this season, are trying to climb back into playoff position in the Western Conference.
