Clinton: Green Initiatives A Key To Economic Rebound
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Former President Bill Clinton toured a display of electric cars on Michigan Avenue this morning and said they're not just the future of American transportation, but the future of American jobs.
As Newsradio 780's Mike Krauser reports, Clinton said green initiatives--like electric vehicles--are one of the keys to turning the economy around.
"Yeah, I think its sort of the camel's nose in the tent," he said. "It's the beginning."
Clinton put a little political spin on how green technology is changing the economy for the better right now.

"When President Obama took office we had 2 percent of the global market for these batteries necessary to run these electric cars," he said.
"Now we have 20 percent. More than 30 plants are built or under construction. Seventeen of those plants, 18 now, in Michigan, which had a 14 percent unemployment rate a year and a half ago, now 10 and a half."
That's the biggest drop in the country, Clinton said, and it's because of what he calls the "future economy".
