BENSENVILLE, Ill. (CBS) -- A convenience store clerk was shot and killed during a robbery in northwest suburban Bensenville on Sunday.
Detectives spent the night piecing together what happened, after 36-year-old employee Hussein Saghir was shot outside Sam's Tobacco and Food Mart, 235 W. Irving Park Rd.
The victim was transported to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, where he died.
Detectives cordoned off the entire strip mall where Sam's Tobacco is located, including a van parked outside, which sources said belonged to the victim.
Police on Monday released surveillance video that shows Saghir leaving the store and being confronted by two assailants in hoodies.
Words are exchanged, and moments later, one of them pulls a gun.
Saghir's brother, the store owner, emerges and seems to resist being pushed back inside.
Saghir was eventually shot and killed, and the gunman ran away, leaving his body outside.
"We're hoping that someone recognizes who these two offenders are and then calls us," Bensenville Police Chief Frank Kosman says.
It's not the first robbery at Sam's. Last November, three robbers got away with cash.
