Claypool: CPS Will Make Sure School Is Safe After CO Leak
Claypool Assures Parents Prussing School Is Safe
(CBS) -- Chicago Public Schools CEO Forrest Claypool made an appearance at a Local School Council meeting Monday night to address concerns following a CO scare at Prussing Elementary.
Claypool came out with representatives from various CPS departments to discuss the leak that last month sent nearly 80 students and staff from the Jefferson Park school to the hospital.
Claypool says they'll be taking steps to repair the boiler and install more carbon monoxide detectors, as well as have a termination hearing for the school's engineer at the next CPS board meeting.
Parents like Ana Cos claim Claypool is using the part-time engineer as a scapegoat.
She says all they want is a new boiler to replace the current one, which is at least 100 years old.
