City Wants StubHub To Collect Amusement Tax
CHICAGO (WBBM) -- A popular online ticket marketplace is under fire from the City of Chicago, which says it should be collecting amusement tax.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's Alex Degman reports, the city says StubHub should be responsible for collecting the tax, which is a percentage of the total sale.

StubHub attorney Tim Bishop, however, told the Illinois Supreme Court that the company provides cities across the country with customer information, and Chicago just hasn't asked for it.
"The General Assembly provided the city in the Ticket Act with the tools to collect the revenue," Bishop said. "Rather than litigating this case for years, Chicago could have been collecting the tax."
Attorneys for the city say it's impossible to pour through hundreds of thousands of documents to determine what's owed. He also says the Ticket Act only concerns ticket scalping, and not online resale.
It is not clear when the Supreme Court will rule on the case.
