City Unveils Taste Of Chicago Lineup
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Twenty new restaurants will make their Taste of Chicago debut this summer, including six food trucks, and 11 vendors who will sell at pop-up stands for one or two days.
Michelle Boone, commissioner of the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, said a total of 69 vendors will take part in the five-day food festival, though many will only be there for part of the Taste.
"This year, the five-day event will offer 34 vendors that will be with us every day, but there will also be 17 pop-up restaurants and 18 food trucks joining us for a day or two," she said.
This year's newcomers are: Abundance Bakery; Arami; Auntie Vee's; BRGRBELLY; Da Lobsta; Demera Ethiopian Restaurant; Doom Street Eats; Firecakes Donuts; Frannie's Café Inc; Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken; The Happy Lobster Truck; La Jefa; La Patrona; MAD Social; nana; Pastoral Artisan Cheese, Bread & Wine; Pork & Mindy's; Rojo Gusano; Taco in a Bag; and Texas de Brazil.
The Taste will also debut the CH Distillery Spirit Lounge.
"The new CH Distillery cocktail lounge will serve a mixology menu of Moscow Mules, tropical rum punch, whiskey sours, and limoncello slushies," Boone said.
The festival runs July 6 through July 10 in Grant Park. An estimated 1.4 million people visited the Taste of Chicago last year.
