City To Host Food Truck Rally On Friday
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The City of Chicago has planned what it calls a "Food Truck Rally" for Friday, to raise awareness of the emerging food truck industry.
WBBM Newsradio Political Editor Craig Dellimore reports the event will bring eight food trucks to Daley Plaza.
Mary Slowik, program director for the city's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, said it will be a first-of-its-kind party.
"We're having a band, Mike & Lisa, from 11:30 (a.m.) to 1:30 p.m., and then we're going to have DJ Lisa René from 5 to 7:30 p.m., so it's going to be a party on Daley Plaza, with food truck menu items as the food, and Goose Island beer as the drinks, and great music, and we're hoping that it's going to be a good time for everyone," Slowik said.
The aim is to make the public more aware of food trucks, and their variety of offerings.
The food trucks that will take part include: Beavers Coffee & Donuts, Bridgeport Pasty Company, Chicago Cupcake, Chicago Lunchbox, The Fat Shallot, Jerk 312, PorkChop, and The Salsa Truck.
