City May Refund Parking Tickets For Some Drivers
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Some drivers who paid parking tickets issued in the city may be due a refund.
These aren't the usual tickets written for meter and other violations.
These are tickets issued by some parking lots and the city says they may be illegal.
In one case, the Sun-Times cites a driver ticketed for not paying.
She couldn't pay because the automated payment machine wasn't working.
The ticket cost her $30.
The city says she and many other drivers may be due a refund because some lots don't have signs posted specifically advising drivers that tickets might be issued for non-payment or other supposed violations.
The city is asking for records from about 50 lots which could be fined for deceptive practices.
