City Launches Contest For Ideas To Liven Up Union Station
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago's Metropolitan Planning Council wants to pump some life into Union Station with a $5,000 contest to get people involved with iconic railroad station on the River, reports WBBM's John Cody.

Project Director Marisa Novara stresses she's looking for involvement not concrete.
"This isn't about some uber-cool design thing that you just look at and walk past," said Novara.
She wants projects, activities and programs which will attract residents and tourists alike to see Union Station is a destination as has already happened in Washington D.C. and Philadelphia where their stations have become community hotspots.
"I don't know, a cooking class, putting hammocks up, setting up a mini-golf, doing a fitness class," said Novara.
Novara says the Metropolitan Planning Council wants ideas from everyone in by July 24 for projects to liven up Union Station make it a Chicago destination for ten days this August.
