Cicero Wants More Cooperation With Chicago On Gangs
CICERO (CBS) -- A coalition of Cicero officials and one Chicago activist are hoping for a little more cooperation in the area of a bridge between the two communities.
Cicero Wants More Cooperation With Chicago On Gangs
Cicero Police Chief Bernard Harrison stood alongside the 31st Street bridge between the two communities at Kostner and asked Chicago Police share with him their information about activity of gangs working both sides of the dividing line.
And Cicero spokesman Ray Hanania said the suburb has reduced its homicide rate 60 percent in seven years, but could do better with more help.
"We need to find a system that makes it easier to respond and report when a resident of Little Village sees something with street gangs we need to be notified right away so we can help out," said Hanania.
And Little Village organizer Raul Montez asked Chicago provide blue light cameras on the 31st Street overpass to monitor gang travel.
