As WBBM Newsradio 780's Debra Dale reports, at the 'L' stop on the Lake Street branch of the line, members of the Eagle's Nest Christian Church were giving away free CTA rides to the first 100 commuters they talked to Friday morning.
The pastor of the church, the Rev. Marcus Bradley, said parishioners donated to make it happen.
"When you look at gas prices being over $3, when you look at everything, people just need a hand," Bradley said, "and I think that's the call of the church to go out, and to seek and save that which is lost, and to help people where we can.
Bradley was also trying to get people to come to its church, which is holding its first service at 202 N. California Ave. this coming Sunday.
