Christkindlmarket Open At Daley Plaza For Holiday Season
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The backdrop for the city of Chicago's official Christmas tree once again this year is a German market.
It's the 16th year for the Daley Plaza Christkindlmarket, which is inspired by the famed Nuremburg Christmas market dating back to 1545.
Many people, such as Carolyn Schlesinger, are drawn by the handmade glass-blown ornaments.
"They have different, unique figures. It's always kind of cool to see what they've come up with," she said.
There also are plenty of gifts to be found, rare European fabrics and textiles and a chance to devour everything from brats and potato pancakes to cookies and spiced wine.
Chriskindlmarket will be open daily through Christmas Eve.
