Child, 7, Critically Wounded In South Side Drive-By
CHICAGO (STMW) - A 7-year-old was critically wounded in a drive-by shooting in the West Englewood neighborhood Saturday evening on the South Side.
A man and 7-year-old child were wounded in a drive-by shooting about 4:40 p.m. in the 5700 block of South Hoyne Avenue, said police News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety, citing preliminary information.
The 7-year-old old was shot through the right leg, police said. The child was taken in critical condition to University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Quention Curtis said.
There were conflicting reports on the child's gender.
A man in his 40s suffered a graze wound to the back, police said. It was not immediately known if he was hospitalized.
Wentworth Area detectives are investigating, but nobody is in custody Saturday evening.
