CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Cook County Chief Judge Timothy Evans has skipped some prominent politicos in making an appointment to the county Board of Tax Review.
As WBBM Newsradio 780's David Roe reports, Judge Evans appointed Michael Cabonargi, a senior prosecutor with the Securities and Exchange Commission in Chicago, to a vacant seat on the Cook County Board of Review, the body that hears tax assessment appeals.

In making the appointment, the Chicago Tribune reports Evans passed over several politically prominent candidates for the vacant seat, including retiring Ald. Eugene Schulter (47th) and former County Commissioner Joseph Mario Moreno (D-7th.)
Evans says he selected Cabonargi for his legal abilities and progressive political affiliations.
Cabonagri will serve out the remaining term of Joseph Berrios, who was elected Cook County Assessor in November.
