Chicagoans Shine At Golden Globes
(CBS) -- A couple of Chicagoans shined at the Golden Globe Awards Sunday night.
A show created by a former Chicagoan, based on her own family, won the Golden Globe as best TV musical or comedy series.
Former Chicagoan Jill Soloway's series, "Transparent," is based on her real-life father, psychiatrist Harry Soloway, who a few years ago, came out as a woman. It won the Golden Globe as a show and Jeffrey Tambor won for his role as the transgender father. Soloway dedicated the award to the transgender community and her dad.

Transparent, available through Amazon, is the first online series ever to win a Golden Globe in its category.
Actress Gina Rodriguez was also honored, winning a Golden Globe for her role on the CW comedy drama "Jane the Virgin." Rodriguez grew up in Chicago and attended St. Ignatius College Prep.
