7 killed, 30 hurt in Chicago weekend shootings

CHICAGO (CBS) — At least six people were killed, and 26 others were hurt in weekend shootings across Chicago as of Sunday. 

The ages of the victims range from 15 to 51. 

Friday

  • At 9:17 p.m. in the 1300 block of West 47th Street, a man was sitting in a parked vehicle in the alley when he was shot in the head. He was transported in critical condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center. 
  • At 9:30 p.m. in the 3400 block of West Douglas Boulevard, a 40-year-old man was in an argument with a "known male" who then shot the victim multiple times, striking him in the cheek, shoulder, and back. The victim was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition. 
  • At 9:35 p.m. in the 10900 block of South Wentworth, a 42-year-old man was with several people in the backyard of a home when two unknown people approached and started shooting. The victim was struck multiple times and was pronounced dead on the scene. 
  • At 10 p.m. in the 2600 block of South Ridgeway, a man in his late 20s was standing on the sidewalk when someone in the area started shooting. The victim was struck in the back and right forearm and was transported by an individual to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition. 
  • At 11:32 p.m. in the 7700 block of South Phillips Avenue, a 17-year-old boy was standing outside on the sidewalk when someone in the area started shooting. The teen was struck in the back and left leg and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in fair condition. 

Saturday

  • At 12:30 a.m. in the 800 block of West 31st Street, a group was gathered on the sidewalk when someone started shooting in the area, striking two victims. A 31-year-old man was shot in the neck and was transported to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. A 26-year-old man was shot in the buttocks and self-transported to Stroger Hospital in fair condition. 
  • At 12:42 a.m. in the 3300 block of West Maypole, a group was standing on the street when there was an exchange of gunfire between unknown shooters. Three men were struck. A 33-year-old man was shot in the lower back and was transported to Stroger Hospital in critical condition. A 32-year-old man was dropped off at Mount Sinai Hospital in fair condition with a gunshot wound to the lower calf. A 30-year-old man was dropped off at Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the back. 
  • At 1 a.m. in the 2200 block of South Kirkland, a 30-year-old man was walking on the sidewalk when someone in the area started shooting. The victim was shot in the left leg and was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition. 
  • At 2:06 a.m. in the 200 block of South Kostner Avenue, officers responding to a call of shots fired found a 34-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the head. She was transported in critical condition to Stroger Hospital, where she died a short time later. 
  • At 2:40 a.m. in the 300 block of West Lower Wacker Drive, a 51-year-old man was on the street when three unknown people with handguns got out of a vehicle and demanded the victim's property. One of the unknown people shot at the victim before fleeing the scene. The victim was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in good condition. 
  • At 8:48 p.m. in the 3800 block of West North Avenue, Chicago police officers assigned to the 25th district approached to conduct a street stop investigation of two individuals in the alley. As officers approached, one of the offenders fled on foot, and officers gave chase. During the foot pursuit, the offender was observed running with a handgun and attempted to throw it away but was unsuccessful. The offender then picked up the handgun, at which time one of the officers discharged his weapon, striking the offender multiple times. Officers immediately rendered aid, and the offender was placed into custody and transported to Stroger Hospital in good condition. A handgun was recovered on the scene. The specifics of this incident, including the comprehensive use of force investigation, are being investigated by the Civilian Office of Police Accountability, or COPA, with the full cooperation of the Chicago Police Department. The Officer(s) involved will be placed on routine administrative duties for 30 days.
  • At 11:36 p.m. in the 6900 block of South Campbell Avenue, a man, 28, was walking on the sidewalk when two unknown males fired shots in his direction from across the street and then fled in an unknown direction. The victim was struck twice in his back and was taken to Christ Hospital in critical condition.

Sunday

  • At 1 a.m. in the 2200 block of South Carpenter Street, a man, 27, was walking on the sidewalk when someone fired shots in the area and the victim was struck. The victim was shot in his rear and was taken to Stroger in critical condition.     
  • At 1:22 a.m. in the 6500 block of South Rhodes Avenue, a group of men were gathered in a residence when a dispute broke out over a card game, and a known offender pulled out a handgun and fired shots, striking two victims. A 40-year-old man was shot in his right thigh and right armpit and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. The second victim, a 38-year-old man, suffered a graze wound to the rear and was also taken to U of C in good condition
  • At 1:42 a.m. in the 9500 block of South Merill Avenue, individuals were gathered at a celebration when someone fired multiple shots at the group, striking four victims. A 19-year-old man was struck in the neck and was taken to U of C in critical condition. A 22-year-old woman was struck in her back and was taken to U of C hospital in critical condition. A 27-year-old man was shot in his right arm and was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition. Lastly, a 22-year-old woman suffered a graze wound to the right leg and refused medical attention. 
  • At 1:48 a.m. in the 2400 block of West 53rd Street, a man, 32, was driving in his vehicle when an unknown vehicle approached, and a male offender fired shots in his direction. The victim sped away but suffered a gunshot wound to the right arm and self-transported to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition.     
  • At 2:15 a.m. in the 3800 block of South Wells Street, a 33-year-old man was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the body. He died at the scene.
  • At 7:53 a.m. in the 5400 block of South Wells Street, two unknown offenders exited from an unknown gray-in-color vehicle and approached a man. After a brief conversation, one of the offenders pulled out a firearm and began to fire shots in the victim's direction. The victim was shot in his chest and was transported to U of C, where he died.
  • At 9:56 a.m. in the 10500 block of South Green Street, a 21-year-old man was inside a residence when he suffered a gunshot wound to his left thigh by a known man. The victim was transported to Christ, where he is listed in good condition. A person of interest is currently being questioned by Area Detectives. Police say it appears to be a domestic-related incident.     
  • At 12:41 p.m. in the 3700 block of West Polk Street, officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert and found a 22-year-old man, a 19-year-old man and a 26-year-old man who were all shot during a shootout. The 19-year-old was shot in the shoulder and the arm and was transported to Stroger Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The 22-year-old was shot multiple times and was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was initially listed in fair condition. The 26-year-old suffered a graze wound to the arm and was transported to Stroger Hospital, where he was reported in good condition. 
  • At 3:57 p.m. in the 7400 block of South Harvard Avenue, a 45-year-old man on a bicycle was approached by an unknown male in a vehicle who got out and started shooting at him. The shooter then ran from the scene. The victim was struck in the hand and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center. 
  • At 6:05 p.m. in the 1800 block of West 88th Street, an 18-year-old man was sitting in a vehicle when he was shot by an unknown person. The victim was struck in the leg and self-transported to St. Bernard Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. 
  • At 7:11 p.m. in the 13200 block of South Prairie Avenue, officers responded to a call of a person shot and found a 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound in the hip. The boy was transported to Comer Children's Hospital, where he was initially listed in good condition. 
  • At 7:44 p.m., in the 4000 block of West 26th Street, two men were standing near the street, when a vehicle pulled up, and someone inside started shooting. A 25-year-old man suffered a graze wound to the neck, and was in fair condition at Mount Sinai Hospital. A 36-year-old man was shot multiple times, and was in critical condition at Mount Sinai Hospital.
  • At 11:30 p.m., in the 7900 block of South Halsted Street, a 39-year-old man was standing at a CTA bus turnaround, when a man walked up and announced a robbery, then shot the victim in the abdomen and back. The victim was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. A 17-year-old boy also was shot, and was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center with gunshot wounds to the legs.

Monday

  • At 2:05 a.m., in the 1200 block of East 71st Street, a 33-year-old man was found unresponsive on the street. He was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center with gunshot wounds to the chest, and was later pronounced dead.

Unless otherwise noted, no one has been arrested in these incidents.
