Mild Monday For Chicago, With Light Rain And Patchy Fog In The Afternoon
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Light rain was expected to move into Chicago on Monday, on what is expected to be a mild day in the area.
Temperatures were expected to reach the upper 30s and low 40s across the Chicago area on Monday. Beginning around 2 p.m., light rain will begin developing, and while precipitation won't be heavy, it could slow the afternoon commute. Patchy fog also is possible as the system moves through northern Illinois.
The light rain could shift to snow overnight, but no serious accumulation is expected.
Temperatures were then expected to cool down into the upper 20s by the middle of the week, before growing milder again on the weekend.
Chicago was spared the major winter storm that crippled much of the East Coast this weekend, dumping two to three feet of snow in parts of the Northeast, nearly 40 inches in Virginia, and as much as 42 inches in West Virginia. Parts of North Carolina, Kentucky and Tennessee also got more than a foot of snow.
