Chicago Teen Serving As GOP Alternate Delegate In Cleveland

(CBS) – Presumptive Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has gotten credit for getting younger people involved in politics.

CBS 2's Rob Johnson talks with two young people from Illinois who are taking part in the GOP nominating convention this week in Cleveland.

Carl Miller is 17 years old and is an at-large alternate delegate from Illinois. He attends Timothy Christian School in Elmhurst and met a number of the presidential hopefuls leading up to the Iowa caucuses before volunteering with the campaign of Republican Sen. Ted Cruz.

Edward Parsons of Hinsdale, 22, is volunteering for the Illinois Republican Party this week at the RNC.

"I'm really fortunate for this exciting opportunity," says Parsons, who attends Connecticut College.
