The Chicago Sky announced Thursday that they have acquired two-time All-Star and Olympic Gold Medalist Ariel Atkins in a trade with the Washington Mystics.

In exchange for Atkins, Washington will get the Sky's 2025 third overall pick, 2027 second-round pick, and rights to swap 2027 first-round picks.

"Ariel has made a tremendous impact on this league since her rookie year." Sky General Manager Jeff Pagliocca said in a news release. "She is an excellent role model for her teammates and an all-star caliber contributor. As one of the league's top defensive specialists and a consistent scorer, she is a threat on both ends of the floor who will help us build a playoff-contending team in Chicago."

Atkins, a Texas native, was drafted by the Washington Mystics in 2018. She has not played for any other WNBA teams up to this point.

Atkins, a Texas native, ranks first on Washington's all-time three-pointers made with 397, second in steals with 313, and third in points with 2,914.

The 5-foot 10-inch guard helped Washington reach the playoffs five times and win the championship in 2019, the Sky noted.

Atkins played with the Texas Longhorns in college, and thrice helped lead them to the NCAA Sweet 16. She also helped lead the Longhorns to the Elite Eight in 2016, the Sky noted.
