Chicago Sets New February Record For Snow
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago broke a 115-year-old record for snowfall on Saturday and the city could still see more snowfall before the month is over.
The National Weather Service said Saturday that 28.6 inches of snow have fallen in Chicago this February. The previous February record of 27.8 inches was set in 1896.
The forecast called for a chance of more light snow Saturday night.
Most of the snow in February fell during a blizzard that dumped more than 20 inches on Groundhog Day. It was the third largest blizzard in Chicago history.
Officials estimate the cleanup cost more than $8 million.
