Chicago Rally Remembers Victims Of Paris Terror Spree

CHICAGO (CBS) -- About 250 people gathered at Daley Plaza for a 60 minute show of solidarity with France, reports WBBM's Nancy Harty.

They waved French flags, sang the French National Anthem chanted in both languages, "We stay together. We are not afraid." Many carried signs that said, "Je Suis Charlie."

A moment of silence followed the reading of the names of 17 people killed in last week's terror spree in Paris that included an attack at the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo. Speakers talked about how terror should not silence freedom of expression and freedom of the press.

The Chicago rally comes as a crowd of over a million people gathered in Paris for a unity rally, including more than 40 world leaders.
