Anti-Trump Protesters Take To Chicago Streets
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Demonstrators protesting the inauguration of President Donald Trump marched for hours through Chicago's downtown Friday evening and at times disrupted traffic. Some incidents of vandalism were observed.
It started as a peaceful protest, CBS 2's Audrina Bigos reports.
Demonstrators started marching at Chicago's Trump Tower and then moved through the Loop several times and down Michigan Avenue. They halted traffic at several major intersections, with Chicago police at every corner.
As the protesters' numbers went from thousands to hundreds, parts of the protest were no longer peaceful.
CBS 2 observed a man break windows at the PNC Bank on Michigan and South Water, shattering the glass and then running away.
Others jumped on top of cars and on top of trash cans. Police caught some troublemakers, but information about arrests was not immediately available.
Protesters tried to get to Trump Tower, but police blocked all streets and walkways leading to the building.
