Chicago Marathon Runners Recovering, Sightseeing Day After Race
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Many Chicago Marathon finishers echoed the idea that the Chicago crowd made a difference over 26.2 miles. WBBM's John Cody reports on Sunday's runners becoming Monday's sightseers.
"The last mile was ok, the last two-tenths were terrible because it was uphill," said Elizabeth, a runner from Charlotte, North Carolina. "The course was flat the entire time until the last two-tenths."
Elizabeth said the spectators were a big help for her..
"It was really loud and you were never really by yourself," she said. "It makes it exciting and gives you more motivation to keep going."

She had a big smile as she wandered Millennium Park despite the race aftereffects.
"I got a lot of rest last night but my legs are really sore," Elizabeth said.
Bernardo Gomez has run marathons before in Miami and Disney World.
"Disney there was a lot of culture, stuff like that but here was more of the people supporting you, which was really nice," Gomez said.
He says he is a little sore, but it's not bad.
"I did pretty good, I did five-and-a-half, which is pretty good for me, I am 250 pounds," he said.
They joined hundreds of runners walking off effects of Sunday's Marathon by sightseeing through Chicago's downtown area.
