Chicago Marathon Will Announce Solution To Registration Glitch Next Week
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Registration for this year's Bank of America Chicago Marathon remains suspended, and organizers say they'll announce next week how the remaining slots will be filled.
Chicago Marathon Registration Still Suspended
Many of those hoping to compete in this year's marathon are still waiting at the starting line.
A computer registration glitch prevented many runners from signing up when registration opened on Tuesday afternoon. Others may have inadvertently signed up multiple times.
As a result, registration has been suspended.
Organizers believe there are still about 15,000 slots still available for the Oct. 13 race.
The marathon announced on its website today it will announce an "equitable plan for how and when we will reopen registration." Potential applicants can sign up to get the announcement emailed to them.
"We understand the frustrations and appreciate the continued patience during this process," the statement said.

Officials say they have issued refunds to almost everybody who signed up more than once.
