Chicago Man Shot, Robbed In His Own Yard
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was robbed in his own front yard in the Marquette Park neighborhood Saturday morning and then shot as he tried to get away.
The 47-year-old man was in his yard in the 3400 block of West 65th Street at 8:52 a.m. when two young men approached him and robbed him, police News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said.
The robbers took an undetermined amount of cash from the victim and then shot him when he tried to flee.
"As he tried to make a break for it, he tried to run to safety, the victim was shot in the leg,'' Perez said.
The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in good condition, Perez said.
The suspects, described as being in their late teens or early 20s and wearing gray hooded sweatshirts fled on foot through an alley and are not in custody as of 10:30 a.m.
Perez said it was not immediately known whether the attack was part of a pattern, according to the officer.
