Chicago Man Convicted Of Selling Heroin Near Suburban School
CARPENTERSVILLE, Ill. (STMW) - A Chicago man faces up to 30 yeras in prison after being convicted Wednesday of selling heroin near an elementary school in northwest suburban Carpentersville.
Anton D. Elem, 35, of the 3100 block of West 15th Place, was convicted by Kane County Circuit Judge Thomas Mueller of one count of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school, a class X felony, according to a release from the Kane County State's Attorney's office.
Elem sold 1.5 grams of heroin to an undercover police officer on July 10 in the parking lot of a business in the 1600 block of South Kennedy Drive in Carpentersville, the release said. The sale took place within 30 feet of Lakewood Elementary School, located on the 1600 block of Ravine Lane.
Elem faces six to 30 years in prison when he is sentenced Nov. 18, the release said. He has been held in the Kane County jail on $100,000 bond, which was revoked upon conviction.
