Chicago Federation of Labor's Labor Day rally in Millennium Park
Governor Quinn told the Chicago Federation of Labor's Labor Day rally in Millennium Park that he wants to raise the minimum wage - and keep raising it.
As the Chicago Federation of Labor's rally got started, they prayed for employment.
"We pray not only for jobs, but for good jobs."
And Governor Quinn, who's running to keep his job, tried to portray himself as the answer to the union's prayers.
"Some people who do the hardest work in our society, when they go home their backs hurt. Their feet hurt. They're turning over mattresses. They're working hard at doing very difficult, dangerous things.
"They only get paid the minimum wage. I think we ought to raise that minimum wage and keep raising the minimum wage."
The Republican candidate for governor, Bill Brady, has said he wants Illinois' minimum wage to sit where it is and let the federal minimum wage catch up.
