Chicago Cops Help State Troopers Who Lost Homes To Tornado
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago police officers have been helping a pair of Illinois State Police troopers dig out from the tornado that devastated their hometown of Washington.
WBBM Newsradio's John Cody reports troopers Miles Walsh and Sadie Connor both lost everything when the twister hit the small town just east of Peoria last month.

Both their homes were torn apart by the tornado, and they lost all their possessions.
"The fortunate thing is that they and their families are fine. Sadie did suffer some fractured ribs, and a couple of facial bruises, but other than that everybody's okay, except they need to get back on their feet, and we've been trying to help them out," State Police Director Hiram Grau said.
Grau, a former Chicago police officer, accepted a pair of $500 checks from the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police.
The Chicago FOP's board of directors raised the money to help Walsh and Connor get back on their feet.
"It's for whatever the officers need; whether it's food or clothing, or rebuilding their homes," FOP Chicago President Mike Shields said.
