Chicago, Cleveland Mayors Donate To Youth Baseball Programs After World Series
CHICAGO (AP) — The mayors of Chicago and Cleveland say they're each donating $1,000 to youth baseball organizations in the other's city after the World Series.
Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel made the announcement Sunday evening. It means that Emanuel will give $1,000 to The Historic League Park in Cleveland and Jackson will give $1,000 to the Playball initiative run by the Chicago Parks Foundation.
The two mayors didn't make a friendly wager on this year's World Series. Instead both said they're making the donations to honor the sportsmanship and spirit shown by both teams and fans.
The Chicago Cubs won the World Series in seven games over the Cleveland Indians, breaking the team's 108-year championship drought.
