Chicago Becoming Reality TV Mecca With Addition Of 'Chicagolicious'

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago is quickly becoming the reality television mecca of the Midwest, this time with the launch of "Chicagolicious" on The Style Network.

"Chicagolicious" is a spin-off of the popular "Jerseylicious" and will explore "all things glam and beauty" at salon owner AJ Johnson's AJES The Salon, 648 W. Randolph in Chicago.

According to a news release from Style, AJ's clients include Jennifer Hudson, Angela Bassett and Iman. The 10-episode series will follow AJ and his staff of hair stylists and makeup artists has they try to expand his high-end styling business.

"Charismatic salon owner AJ oversees his team of talented yet fiery hair and makeup artists who love to create drama, from the looks they give their clients, to the manner in which they deal with each other," according to the release.

The cast includes a list of very pretty characters that is designed to provoke conflict: The prima donna veteran stylist who brings in the big bucks, the wide-eyed small town girl in the big city, the ex-model who just doesn't seem to fit in and the up-and-comer eager to prove herself.

"Chicagolicious", which premieres in June, is the latest in a series of reality shows to hit Chicago. "Mob Wives Chicago" has been generating protests for its portrayal of Italian Americans. TruTv has launched a series focusing on "The Weiner's Circle" hot dog joint.

It all seems to make "The Real World Chicago" seem like "Leave It To Beaver."
